'Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.'- Angela Carter

Absentee Blogger!

This past fortnight I've been pretty awful in keeping up with my blogging. I've finally moved back down to University and my course begins tomorrow! So as you can imagine, it has been pretty hectic getting everything sorted.

The week began with a mini breakdown. I went through a massive 'omg-what-if-I'm-not-good-enough-for-postgraduate-level', it was horrendous! After this though, there was a welcome reception put on by the English department where myself, my other course mates and lectures sorted out the remaining bits and bobs and got to know each other over a few glasses of wine and pretzels so that has 100% put me at ease! Fiiieeew.

I've spent today researching Dissertation topics and getting started on some Neo-Victorian studying so we are officially on a roll! Unfortunately, this means that my blogging will be taking a bit of a back seat although I will try my hardest to keep up with it all. It will be a welcome break from studying I'm sure!

As you can all understand, non course book reviews are currently on hold until Sept. 2013. One or two may creep up but am making no promises.

Hope everything is going OK with all of you lovely bloggers!

WWW Wednesday #10 / Waiting on Wednesday #8

Wednesday's meme is hosted over at Should Be Reading, a meme which I'm actively taking part in in which we show off the books we've read, we're reading and going to read :).
The rules are simple. All that has to be done is to answer the following three questions:

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?
Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3)
What are you currently reading?

Divergent (Divergent #1)The third and final book in the trilogy. I've been sat on the second chapter for a week now... not liking it!

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. Wow, what a book. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to get my hands on the next one! Eeeeesh, woman has some serious skills, lol! Amazing, amazing, amazing.

The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1)

What do you think you'll read next?

It'll be a toss up between Maze Runner and Divergent. I've had Roth's book for awhile and recently bought Maze Runner so it's going to be difficult to decide which one!

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking the Spine , which allows us to show off the books we cannot wait to get our hands on :). My choice this week is:

Laini Taylor- Days of Blood and Starlight

Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2)

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she’ll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas.

I adored the first one and cannot wait for the next!

Q: What hyped up book was worth all of the fuss?

It has been a long time since I've gotten to speak about it so I definitely have to say the entire Harry Potter series! I'm still mourning the end of the series, the books and films always leave me with an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia and sadness that they're over. Usually, I'm adamant that books come before films, but the very first film is what made me retry the first two books. So, so glad that I did because they improved dramatically the more Ms. Rowling wrote. It's a shame the owls lost my Hogwarts letter...

Blogger-block.

Funny Cry For Help Ecard: I'm an angry writer-type who hasn't written shit. This must exist, surely? I suppose it's the exact same thing as writers block. I cannot for the life of me get into writing reviews for books at the moment. Two and Twenty Dark Tales has been read and is patiently waiting its accompanying review, The Immortal Rules has just been finished today and now also waiting for a review, but can I be bothered to open up a Word document? No. Not even slightly. It's incredibly frustrating considering I am now officially enrolled onto my Masters and the course starts on the 1st of October - pleasure reading will be few and far between in those few months. The book reviews will likely be a of Medieval, Victorian and feminist texts - not a bad thing at all, but it is sad to have to give the ole paranormal/ dystopian genres a rest.

On the plus side, I've finally picked up Veronica Roth's Divergent :). It has been sat ever so nicely in my room for the past few months and I decided it's time to pick it up. Probably one of the very few that have yet to read it but I'm really looking forward to it. One chapter in and already loving it :) keep up the good worth Ms. Roth!

The rules are simple. All that has to be done is to answer the following three questions:

• What do you think you’ll read next?

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)What are you currently reading?
I'm reading The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. It has taken awhile to get into it but it will need something drastic to make it into 4* territory. Really disappointing as it sounds amazing on the cover!

Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8)What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished reading a few books, 13 by Kelley Armstrong and Conspiracy in Death by J. D. Robb. I adored both of them. So sad that the Otherworld series has ended but it was nice to discover another series at the same time :).

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

What do you think you'll read next?

It'll be a toss up between Maze Runner and Divergent. I've had Roth's book for awhile and recently bought Maze Runner so it's going to be difficult to decide which one!

Kristen Painter - Blood Rights

Blood Rights (House of Comarré, #1)

Rebellion has a price.

The lacy gold mapped her entire body. A finely wrought filigree of stars, vines, flowers, butterflies, ancient symbols and words ran from her feet, up her legs, over her narrow waist, spanned her chest and finished down her arms to the tips of her fingers.

Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle's body bears the telltale marks of a comarré—a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility. When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into the mortal world...and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now, Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has ever seen will threaten to reign.

Sounds good doesn't it?! :)

Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle: Fifty Shades of Grey; Fifty Shades Darker; Fifty Shades FreedQ: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

Fifty Shades without a doubt. I remember reading an extract on Amazon before everyone went crazy about it and just being completely put off by the awful and, in a sense, immature writing style of it. Admittedly, everyone went nuts so I thought right let's see what this is all about. The first book = awful. The second = better. The third = to be confirmed. It's still sat in a pile!

WWW Wednesday #8/ Waiting on Wednesday #6

The rules are simple. All that has to be done is to answer the following three questions:

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?
13 (Women of the Otherworld, #13)

What are you currently reading?

I'm reading 13 by Kelley Armstrong. The finale of the Otherworld series *sob*. I finally made myself read it - I just wasn't ready to accept that this was the end of the series. I didn't really enjoy Spellbound so I thought maybe it would be easy to let go, but so far this book is amazing! Come on Kelley, one more?

What did you recently finish reading?

Two and Twenty Dark Tales: Dark Retellings of Mother Goose RhymesI recently finished reading Two and Twenty Dark Tales. It is a book which I received for review from the ever faithful Net Galley and I absolutely loved it! Some of the stories were a bit eehhh, they just didn't go anywhere, but the majority were incredibly inventive and gave me the spooks! Review to come soon :).

Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8)What do you think you'll read next?

Conspiracy in Death by J. D. Robb. Me and my Nan made a trip to the fantastic shop; The Works and they now have four books for £5! Heaven! They can move shop more often if they're going to up their bargains haha. My Nan grabbed this book (as well as two other crimes and a Dystopian novel; Maze Runner for me) and gave me this bad boy. It's the 8th in the series so I'm hoping this isn't going to be a 'must-have-read-the-others' kinda book!

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking the Spine , which allows us to show off the books we cannot wait to get our hands on :). My choice this week is:

Theresa  Romain - Season for Surrender

Season for Surrender

Honor Among Rogues
Alexander Edgeware, Lord Xavier, has quite a reputation—for daring, wagering, and wickedness in all its delightful forms. But the wager before him is hardly his preferred sport: Xavier must persuade a proper young lady to attend his famously naughty Christmas house party—and stay the full, ruinous two weeks. Worse, the lady is Louisa Oliver, a doe-eyed bookworm Xavier finds quite charming. Yet to refuse the challenge is impossible—he will simply have to appoint himself Miss Oliver’s protector…

Mischief Among Misses
Louisa knows her chance for a husband has passed. But she has no desire to retire into spinsterhood without enjoying a few grand adventures first. When Lord Xavier’s invitation arrives, Louisa is more intrigued than insulted. And once inside the rogues’ gallery, she just may have a thing or two to teach her gentlemen friends about daring…

I requested this awhile back on Net Galley and I'm reeeaallly hoping to be accepted! It sounds so good so fingers crossed for this one!

*GUEST POST* Jennifer Selzer & Daniel Huber, Authors of 'Legend of the Chosen'

Hi guys! I am soooo excited to host my first ever guest post and have to thank the wonderful Jennifer Selzer and Daniel Huber for allowing me to do this.
